The Global Region 2 of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), under the leadership of Regional Director Seo-yeon Lee, recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Femme Solidarity, an Australian organization, to promote collaborative peace projects. The signing took place on September 17 at Ha-yeong Hall, Kensington Resort, marking a new chapter in the partnership between the two organizations.

The event also featured a meeting focused on cooperation among women leaders, with Sarah Chong, Director of Femme Solidarity, representing the Australian organization. Femme Solidarity is a community group dedicated to supporting marginalized women, including immigrants, refugees, and women of color, through empowerment initiatives and a robust women’s network.

During the discussions, both parties outlined plans to work together on various peace initiatives, including IWPG-led peace events, the Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) program, and the potential for a collaborative side event at the 69th UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) conference.

Sarah Chong emphasized the importance of collective action, stating, “Through PLTE, we aim to introduce new initiatives for world peace. Next year, I look forward to returning with tangible results and promoting peace awareness within the Australian community. By highlighting true peace, I hope to inspire women leaders who are committed to this cause.”

Seo-yeon Lee echoed the sentiment, underscoring the significance of peace education and the role of women in peace-building. She added, “Despite the presence of numerous peace organizations, achieving peace remains a challenge. By partnering with IWPG, we can increase awareness of peace education and empower women to lead the charge for sustainable peace.”

The IWPG, an NGO registered with the UN ECOSOC and the Department of Global Communications (DGC), has over 110 branches and 730 partner organizations worldwide. Guided by its mission to achieve sustainable world peace, IWPG advocates for peace culture dissemination, women’s peace education, and the support of legislation for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
