The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2 (Global Director Seo-Yeon Lee) participated in the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Headquarters in New York. On March 10, IWPG signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Equality Organization for Training and Human Rights (Representative Hiba Issa Odeh Haddadeen) at the Wyndham Hotel to collaborate on peace initiatives.
The Equality Organization for Training and Human Rights is dedicated to advancing women’s rights and fostering a just and equitable society through advocacy, awareness campaigns, and capacity building.
The two organizations agreed to cooperate on peace activities and discussed concrete plans, including:
- IWPG peace events
- Advocacy for the enactment of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) into law
- Women’s peace education and network formation
- Support for Jordanian women to join IWPG as members
Representative Hiba Issa Odeh Haddadeen stated, “Through our cooperation with IWPG, we will share experiences and knowledge in the fields of women’s rights and peace. It is deeply meaningful to work together toward our common goal of peace.”
Global Director Seo-Yeon Lee added, “This agreement brings us one step closer to sustainable peace while spreading the value of peace alongside the women of Jordan.”
Meanwhile, IWPG is a globally recognized women’s NGO registered with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC). It operates 115 branches in 122 countries and collaborates with 808 partner organizations in 68 countries. With a vision of “realizing sustainable world peace,” IWPG actively promotes global solidarity, fosters a culture of peace, provides women’s peace education, and advocates for the legal adoption of the DPCW.
