The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Region 2, under the leadership of Regional Director Seo-Yeon Lee, took part in the 69th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the UN Headquarters in New York. On the sidelines of the event, IWPG hosted a strategic dialogue at the East Lounge with Dr. John A.K. Jingu, Permanent Secretary of the Tanzanian Ministry for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups.

The discussion centered on strengthening women-led peacebuilding efforts and advancing sustainable peace. Dr. Jingu expressed keen interest in IWPG’s initiatives, including the Women’s Peace Education program, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention strategies, efforts to promote women’s economic empowerment, conflict prevention and peacekeeping strategies, as well as the upcoming 2025 International Women’s Peace Conference scheduled for September in Korea.
Recognizing the value of IWPG’s work, Dr. Jingu said, “Women are no longer victims of conflict, but key actors in creating peace. We will build a practical cooperative relationship with IWPG to implement sustainable peace.”
IWPG Secretary-General NaHyung Jeon emphasized the importance of Tanzanian women’s engagement in governance, stating, “Women in Tanzania must actively participate in policy-making and legislative processes. Through the expansion of IWPG’s Women’s Peace Education and peace capacity-building programs for women leaders, we must enable women to play a central role in peace.”

IWPG reaffirmed its dedication to not only engaging world leaders and women activists but also collaborating with them to create a world where peace is realized and sustained through the leadership of women.
