IWPG Regional Director, Seo-Yeon Lee holds meetings to discuss cooperation with Safa Mahmoud, Head of the Women’s Department at the Libyan Democratic Party

Discussion on holding the ‘6th International Loving Peace Art Competition’

On the 30th of last month, Lee Seo-yeon, the Global 2 Regional Director of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), engaged in an online exchange meeting with Safa Mahmooud, the Head of the Women’s Department in the Democratic Party of Libya.

During the meeting, there were discussions introducing IWPG and explaining its four major projects. The participants also watched a video of the 5th International Loving Peace Art Competition in the Middle East and communicated about the peace activities of Libyan women. Additionally, there was a discussion about facilitating the participation of many children and adolescents in Libya in the upcoming ‘6th International Loving Peace Art Competition’ at the national level.

Ms. Safa Mahmooud, the Head of the Women’s Department, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am excited about the prospect of working together with IWPG for peace initiatives and activities. I would like to discuss concrete methods for peace activities that Libyan women can engage in, such as peace projects and women’s peace education.”

They agreed to continue regular meetings to explore ways to contribute to the future peace and development by supporting human rights and peace activities of Libyan women.

Meanwhile, IWPG holds special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and is registered with the Department of Global Communications (DGC) as an international women’s peace organization.

The vision of IWPG is to protect precious lives from war and pass down peace to future generations with a mother’s heart. To achieve this, IWPG is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, coordinating vibrant peace activities worldwide through over 110 branches and collaborating with more than 560 partner organizations.
